The Basketball Trip. The basketball team returned last week from their hard Eastern trip with the result of two games won out of the five played The team played just as pluckily as on the previous trip but were greatly handi capped by the size of the floor in most places and their poor physical condition due to the strain of travel ing. It can safely be said that our team would have won every game had they played the same teams on the Armory floor. After the Bucknell game, which proved to be rather rough and where our team was deficient in weight, Fordham was played in New York on Feb. 26. The game was close and exciting but the superior team work and clever playing of the Penn State boys won for them by the score of 27 to 21. On the fol lowing night Manhattan was defeated in just as spirited a game, 29 to 26. The features of this game were the shooting of Funston and the foul goals by Hermann. The C. C. of N. Y. team proved the fastest aggregation of basketball players that State was ever up against and they simply monopolized the ball during the game. The floor was so small that no effective team work could be done. The Lehigh game on Saturday, Feb. 29, found the Penn State team in very poor physical condition, but they started off in good 'shape, end ing the first half 13 to 9 against the Brown and White. As the game progressed, however, the team weakened and finally lost 24 to 16. On the whole trip Waha and Funston excelled in all around playing while the rest of the team never lacked in their usual good work. The scores of the games follow : PENN STATE 27 Ross, .. Hermann . . Since the last announcement con- cerning the organization of the wrestling club, many candidates have come out and prospects are good for a team which will represent State very creditably. This is a new line of activity for State, but its popularity just now seems to predict a bright future. There are 42 can didates out, divided as follows : un der 115 pounds, three; 115 to 125 pounds, three; 125 to 135 pounds, three; 135 to 145 pounds; eight; 145 to 158 pounds fifteen; 158 to 175 pounds, seven; and over 175, in the heavyweight class, there are three. The nights for practice have been changed to Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, from 7.30 to 8.30. This is a very busy hour, for as many as 21:fellows can be seen wrestling at one time, and taking instructions from H. I. Smith. At Philadelphia last week, Mr. Smith took four les sons from Herrmann, and learned many new and valuable points for FORDHAM. 21 Fitzpatrick .. .Liskind Mahoney Wrestlers Hard at Work. the benefits of our wrestlers. The small number of candidates for the lightweights and heavy weight shows that there are gbod chances there for more men. There are many good fellows of those classes in college who ought to come out, not only to learn more about wrestling and try for the team, but to help the others as well. Manager Woodward has been in formed that Lafayette is to organ ize a team, and prospects are bright for teams from other colleges. Bucknell's athletic committee, which comes here- soon, will probably make arrangements for a meeting with their team. Plans are now be ing made for a meet here this spring between two teams chosen from our present candidates, and, without doubt, it will prove quite popular and interesting. President Weigle wishes to an nounce that the squad will be photo graped in the Armory on Thursday night. . LEHIGH 24 -Anderson ... Troutman .. Strut Cox Sons and Vining 26? Fourth Ave..
