The following State graduates
hold positions with the H. C. Frick
Coke company :
Walter E. Housman, '97, is as
sistant mechanical engineer, with
headquarters at Scottdale, Pa.
J. W. Campbell, '9B, is division
engineer with headquarters at Leck
rone, Pa.
William L. Affelder, '99, is
superintendent of the Redstone plant
of 446 ovens at Brownfield, Pa.
Charles S. Freeman, 'O3, is a
draftsman in the mechanical depart
ment at Scottdale, Pa.
Winfield H. McDowell, 'O5, has
charge of a construction corps, with
headquarters at Uniontown, Pa.
Thomas G. Estep, 'O5, is in the
mechanical department at Scott
dale, Pa.
Short Course Men.
Within the last week seventy-one
students have entered in the short
courses of the School of Agri-
These men
culture
representatives from nearly every
county in the state. The largest
numners come from Chester and
Bradford counties.
The subjects of instruction cover
a wide range but are grouped under
the heads of Agriculture and Dairy
Husbandry. The majority of the
students are enrolled in the former
courses. The term of all courses
will be twelve weeks.
The Berzelius Chemical Society is
very fortunate this month in having
for their speaker Dr. F. J. Pond of
Stevens Institute, Hoboken, N. J.,
who is a brother of Dr. G. G. Pond.
His tali will be on "Methods of
Gas Manufacture." The lecture
will be fully illustrated by lantern
slides, and will take place in the lec
ture room of the Chemistry building
at 7 o'clock on Friday night. Any
