State's Appropriation.
The appropri tion bill'for tl.e cc'-
lege which was passed by the last
legislature was signed by the Gov
ernor during last commencement
week. The items of the bi:l were as
follows :
Agriculture
School of Engineering
Science Building
Home Economics
Women's Dormitory
New Athletic Field
Tobacco Experiment
Mining Department
Chemistry Department
General Maintenance
The deficiency bill which was
signed on May 7 carried with :t
$179,530.92. As the items of this
bill have already been published it
will be unnecessary to repeat them
here. The total amount received
from the state is $403, 530.92.
New Attendance Rules.
At one of the largest mass meet
ings ever held here the proposed
changes in the rules to govern at
tendance at college exercises were
taken up at the request of the stu
dent board.
The proposal to require atten
dance at e_ very exercise was not
adopted'. It seemed be the general
opinion that the old rule was very
satisfactory. It was also voted to
limit the enforcement of the twenty
four hour rule to the Christmas and
Easter vacations and to request that
chapel be made optional except one
day in each week.
These decisions are, of course,
merely expressions of the wishes of
the student body and are in the
nature of inst- uctions to the student
board. This board will take
them up with the faculty for final
action.
One of our students from a foreign
land was heard to ask at the post
office for a one cent open face letter.
The P. M, promptly handed out a
postal card.
