State Vol. IV, No 1 A Welcome From the President. A hearty greeting to the men of " State " ! This is to be the best year " State " has ever known. It is by far the largest as to numbers and will be the best for work, unless I mistake the spirit of the men who are hefe My welcome is not only on be half of those directly in charge of College affairs, but it extends farther and includes a welcome on behalf of the official business gov erning body of the College. You come in contact but little with the Trustees of the Institution and therefore you may not know the ex tent to wnich every m.:mber of the Board is interested in your welfare. Their thoughts and their efforts are centered in and directed toward the best interests of the Institution, which, of course, include the best for you. And so, on their behalf, as well as on behalf of the instruc tional force, I bid every student in College a hearty welcome and give him a cordial' Godspeed in his work. The danger to the individual stu dent is that he may think, being one of a great mass, he counts for but little. The largest number is made up of units and with a single one lacking the unity is gone, so with that in mind each of us, in our several places, ought to endeavor to do our share in the greater work which awaits us when we come to take it up in the world outside of College life. Very cordially yours, James A. Beaver Sept. 20, 1907. STATE COLLEGE, PA., SEPTEMBER 26, 1907. The New Agricultural Building.
