    State at General Electric Co.
On Thursday of last week, Su
perintendent A. L. Rohrer, of the
General Electric company of
Schenectady, made his annual visit
to State College in quest of men for
the testing department of the works.
In the course of his remarks to
the senior electricals, Mr. Rohrer
outlined briefly the work of the
various departments of the com
pany. The work of the five hun
dred student engineers of the testing
department was of particular interest
to the men, especially to those con
templating that line of employment
after graduation. Upon completion
of two years’ work in this depart
ment, the opportunities for advance
ment are of the best. The men
with this experience have little dif
ficulty in obtaining responsible posi
tions, either in the other departments
of the works or with other electrical
manufacturing concerns.
Mr. Rohrer, speaking of those
employed as student engineers, said
that the men who prove of most
value are those who have the power
to think and apply principles rather
than those equipped with practical
knowledge. This opinion, coming
from an employer of 15,000 men
should have great weight.

THE STATE COLLEGIAN
State is well represented at
Schenectady. Ten of her electrical
engineering graduates are enrolled
as student engineers and nearly
thirty more are employed in the
various departments of the works.
That they are giving the best satis
faction, we have ample proof in Mr.
Rohrer’s annual visit in search of
