The Picture Scrap.
About nine-thirty on Friday morn
ing the Freshmen made the usual
attempt to take a class picture.
When the signal was given they took
hasty leave of classrooms and as
sembled on the side of the Audi
torium toward the Main Building.
A camera had previously been set
up in the La Vie room and focused
ori the proper place. The Sopho
mores were on the spot almost as
soon as the Freshmen, however, and
lost no time in putting the camera
out of commission. This prompt
work probably spoiled the clever
scheme, for, in spite of the fact that
the Freshmen claim to have several
plates, they have not yet,at this writ
ing, displayed a picture as proof of a
successful effort.
Dr. Gill Announces Engagement.
Dr. Benjamin Gill announces his
engagement to Miss Ellen Urania
Clark of Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Miss Clark is the daughter of the
late Rev. W. R. Clark D.D. of
Cambridge and an old friend of Dr.
and the late Mrs. Gill. She has
been engaged in school and college
work, but of late years has lectured
on subjects connected with English
Literature in the private schools of
Boston.
Dr. Gill has presented to the Li
brary an excellent photograph of the
famous city of Athens. This photo
graph was taken only a few yeai s
ago and shows the present appear
ance of the ancient great seat of
culture and learning as well as the
modern city. The photograph adds
a quiet beauty to the building and
there is no doubt but that a few
more pictures of similar character
would greatly enhance the attractive
ness of the interior of the Library.
