The sacred concert on the last
Sunday of the fall term added an
appropriate touch to the holiday
season’arid was appreciated by a
litrge portion of the student body
Selections by the Glee club
Orchestra; and College choir,
tbgether with duets by Misses
Atherton and Grieb and a cornet
solo by'Mr. Allport formed an en
joyable program.
T. F; Foltz, ’O6, has left the
Stanley Eiectric Co. at Pittsfield,
MassT to accept a position in the
electrical department of the Penn
sylvania R.‘ R. at Altoona, Pa. Mr.
Foltz' stopped off at State on Tues
day while on his way to his new po
sitron;'
The Panama Canal,
A thoroughly interested audience
listened 'to the illustrated lecture on
the Isthmian Canal, given by Dr. E.
B. McDowell'in the Auditorium on
Friday evening, Dec. 14th. The
feature of the entertainment was a
larger number of views and moving
pictures 'which had been secured
with' his own camera by the lecturer
along thecanal site. These showed
the vast amount of excavating which
must he done in the construction of
the' waterway. Dr. McDowell be
lifeves, in the ultimate success of the
undertaking, but characterizes it as
one of the greatest engineering feats
ever -undertaken, and one which
needs and deserves the hearty sup
port of the- entire American people
to jnake it one of the crowning feats
of American ingenuity and persever
aace.
