THURSDAY, NOV. 8, 1906 EDITORIAL With only a few days intervening until the game with Dickinson takes place, it is necessary that we begin to' make our preparations. Ever since athletic relations with Dickin son have existed, this game has con stituted the most important event on our schedule ; a few of us know what it means to lose this struggle, most of us realize the greatness of a victory. That the Carlisle Collegians _have similar ideas in regard to this event is evinced by words of a re cent issue of the Dickinsonian. "For years State has been our greatest rival, and the State game the biggest game on our schedule. If we can win this game the season -is considered a success, though we lose every other game." If Dick inson has these ideas, don't you suppose that every supporter of the Red and White will stand by them and attend the game to a man ? Everyone conversant with State's athletics is only too familiar with the "third year superstition." A THE STATE COLLEGIAN glance at the record in another column will convince everyone that this superstition has become too much of a fact and an established rule. This is the fatal year accord lug to the story. However, it should be our intention to break away this year from the rule that seems to bind us and win. It can be done, but the co-operation of the entire student body is necessary to accomplish the desired result. One hundred out of eight hundred men do not constitute a sufficiently large number. Let every man of the eight hundred be in Williamsport on the morning of the seventeenth, and, as the column of Blue and White moves out toward the field, may emphasis be truthfully placed on • the fifth word of that old, familiar song "Hail, Hail, the Gang's All Here I" It is with a feeling of regret that the "Collegian" is forced to an nounce the resignation of B. W. Scribner, 'OB, from the board. Mr. Scribner has been connected with the "Collegian" for a long time and has had a large share in the effort to place the publication on a firm and high basis. Three new men have been added to the board ; H. A. Hey, 'O9. to the editorial staff; S. W. Bloom, 'OB and N. B. Higgins, 'O9 to the managerial staff. Clearfield County Club The second meeting of the Clear field County Club last Thursday evening was marked by a large at tendance of enthusiastic State men.
