Temple Quartet Concert
The first of the entertainments in
the Y.M.C.A. course this year was
given by the Temple Quartet Con
cert Company of Boston. This or
ganization came to State well rec
ommended, and the concert, which
was a musical treat, proved that the
company has justly earned its fine
reputation. The four members of
the quartet, together with Miss
Catharine Cole, as reader and im
personator, gave an excellent enter
tainment.
The program was so arranged
that it afforded a good variety of
selections. The work of Miss Cole
was worthy of great credit. In one
number she cleverly portrayed the
character of the negro, while an
other selection entitled "A Cutting
from Dombey and Son," was very
well executed. The quartet was the
best that has been heard at the col
lege for sometime. Three of the
members rendered solos, which
were thoroughly enjoyed and which
brought forth hearty applause.
The company was very willing to
please the audience, for the ap
plause given each number was re
sponded to by an encore.
The attendance at the entertain
ment was good, and it is hoped that
the students will thus encourage the
Y M.C.A. management which is en
deavoring to furnish good, wholesome
amusements throughout the winter
months.
The campus paths are becoming
more prominent every day. At the
present rate, they will be very
noticeable-on Pennsylvania Day.
