Benedict kicked-off 45 yards to
Hershman who sped back 15 before
hitting the grass. Henry made 2
yards off tackle, and Burns a beauti
ful 40 yard run around the end.
Coulson 3, then 5 more, McCleary
8, and Maxwell 2 around end.
Wray 2, Coulson 6, and Hershman
went over the line. Wray's try at
goal was again a bit short, making
the score 10 to 0.
Again Benedict kicked off for
Allegheny, this time Hershman
darting back 20 yards. Then "Hi"
Henry reeled off 32 around the
visitors' line and might have had a
clear field but for Nelson's flying
tackle. McCleary went through
tackle for 10 and then came a fum
ble, Maxwell securing the ball.
Coulson could only get a yard, so
McCleary punted a nice one for 40
yards, Nelson fumbling. About half a
dozen of "Mother" Dunn's men fell
upon the ball after a merry chase out
of bounds. Coulson added 7in the
right direction and McCleary finally
went over the line, and then kicked
a nice goal. Score 16 to 0.
Benedict's next kick-off went
clear to the line to Hershman who
came back 25 yards. On the first
line-up Coulson was off around the
end for a stirring run of 30 yards,
McCleary then rounding the other
end nicely for 15; Hershman 2 at
center, Coulson 4, McCleary 4,
Maxwell 2, Coulson 20, in another
fine end skirting expedition, Burns
3, and Hi Henry over the mark like
a streak for the fourth touch down.
IvlcCleary's goal made the score 22
to 0.
Soon after this, time was called for
the first-half, and when the squads
came on the field for the second
period, many changes were noted in
State's line-up. Benedict' s kick-off
was blocked by Reese, and it was
State's ball. Then came a fumble,
and the Meadville men took posses-

sion of the pigskin. Benedict kicked
quickly from behind the line for 30
yards, Vorhis taking the ball for a
spectacular 85 yard run down the
the side line for a touch *down. He
was however, called back to the 40
yard line for a slight step out of
bounds; Yeckley was sent around the
end for 4 yards. Partridge gained
5 through tackle, then a fumble
gave Allegheny the ball. Bene
dict's short kick went 25 yards and
Vorhis brought it back 35. Zink
hit the line for 4, Partridge 6, Zink
2, Burnett 7, but on a double pass
Stidger nailed Vorhis for a 3 yard
loss. The Freshman quarter back
now tried a field goal from the 50
yard mark, but the ball fell away
short. Stidger gained 2, but on a
delayed pass Benedict sat down
hard for 5 yards loss on Maxwell's
swift tackle. Benedict's 40 yard
punt came back 10 in Zink's arms,
then Partridge got 2, Zink 3, and
Partridge 3, the ball going to Alle
gheny on downs. But the Alle
ghenians could not gain and Bene
dict punted. Vorhis soon returned
this kick, Nelson fumbled, and
Ritchey was on the ball amid deaf
ening cheers. After two tries for
small gains -Vorhis dropped back
for a try at a field goal, standing
on the 43 yard line at an angle, this
cool-headed youngster sent the oval
squarely between the up-rights,
bringing the final score up to 26 to
0, as time was soon called for the
conclusion of the game. The Alle
gheny boys played good, plucky
foot ball all the way, and have a
sturdy eleven under Coach Lewis of
Amherst. The score.
