Penn• State Musical Club Con. The concert by the Penn State Musical Club in the Auditorium last Saturday drew merited praises from an enthusiastic audience. From first to last the whole program was an excell ent one, both in choice and rendition, and the appreciated hearers encored every number. The concert was substituted this year for the Pharsonians which has hitherto been the Saturday night at traction of Commencement week. The old minstrel show was forgotten in the enthusiastic reception tendered the Orchestra and Glee Olub. One step forwa4 has been taken in placing the more refined music before Commence ment guests and omitting the old horse play of the Pharsonions. Especially good were the selections by the Glee Club, "Winter Song" and the laughable "Mrs. Winslow's Sooth ing Syrup," and those by the Orches tra "It Happened in Nordland," and "Higgledy Piggledy." R. P. Farrington, 'O6, rendered "The Rosary" with splendid expres sion, as a violin solo, and responded to an encore with "Sing Me to Sleep." The club has shown its ability and sure ly will be supported by the student Indy in the future. College Medley... .. The two honorary elections of the year were D. L. Patterson, State, '95, and Dean Frank L. Graves of the Univer sity of Missouri. At the public meet ing held at 10.30 Dr. Graves addressed the meeting on the subject "Our Debt to President Eliot." The college orchestra furnished music on this oc casion. The 1907 La Vie is a little late in making its appearance but it is a good . one. A great many clever and original features have been added this year by the staff, which has worked earestly to produce a volume better in every •re spect than its predecessors. That they have succeeded seems evident from the way in which orders have been received. One of the chief attractions is a characteristic sketch of each member of the Junior class, which with the other sketches and cuts make the copy an interesting one pictorially from cover to cover. Band Concert On Sunday evening of the close of the Y.M.C.A. meeting the college band gave an open air sacred concert on the campus. The music was in spiring and very enjoyable, but the coming of a shower caused the con cert to be cut short. Another concert is expected during the week. Selected . . .Levi 1907 La Vie Junior Oratorical Contest The annual Junior Oratorical Con test took place in the Auditorium at eight o'clock last Monday evening.
