Foot all The Foot Ball Rules Committee, which recently met to discuss the proposed changes in foot ball, has finished its work. The most impor tant of the new rules are as follows: the distance to be gained is ten yards in four downs; the forward pass is allowed; hurdling is pro hibited; the number of players on the defensive line is seven instead of six, and the penalties for rough play are greatly increased. Necessarily, foot ball at State is governed by the Inter-collegiate Rules, and these alterations in the old rules will be followed strictly this coming season. The spring practice has been very light. It consists of kicking and playing the old Association game of Football. The prospects for next season are good and State's team, with "Mother" Dunn at its head, will be as good as ever. According to the new rules, the game will be cleaner, and there is no doubt that foot ball will continue to be a popular college sport. Electricals Entertained Prof. Jackson entertained the Senior and Junior electricals at his home on Wednesday evening, May 23. The evening was spent in card playing and other , social games. After enjoying this amusement for some time the Electricals, who have the reputation of being the hardest "feeders" in the college, were ushered to the dining room, where a luncheon awaited them. When the tables had been cleared, toasts were called for from a num ber of those present. Shortly after this the men left for their rooms, each one feeling glad of the fact that Prof. Jackson is dean of the Elec trical Department. A bill has been introduced in the Virginia House of Representatives to make the playing of football a crime. Up to this time this bill has failed and, in all probability, will fail to pass, as some of the men who once played on the University of Virginia and V. M. I. teams are opposing it.
