Continued from page 'em up steadily for State, and, al though in the third inning Lehigh looked a bit dangerous, "Old State" immediately got busy again with their sticks and scored three more times. Both nines fielded in fine fashion and the contest was an enjoyable, clean-cut affair, - all the way, Lehigh's men proving themselves good sportsmen; so that the best of feeling prevailed at all times. On Tuesday our Varsity base ball squad departed on an important Eastern trip, on which West Point, Yale, Fordham, and Dickinson are met in the order named. Our team is greatly weakened by the absence of Haverstick, who is still laid up with a bad knee, but it is hoped that he may be able to get in shape for the Dickinson game. Beaver Field. May 12. Griffin, late Asso ciate Professor of Machine Design at State College, but now in the Mechanical Engineering Depart ment of Syracuse University, has recently returned from the South, and, with Mrs. Griffin, is occupy ing his new home in Syracuse, N. Y. Leslie's Weekly for May 10 gives a detailed account of the Battle of Jolo in the Philippine Islands. Capt. E. P. Lawton, the former Commandant at State, took part in this battle and was engaged in the fiercest attacks upon the Moros. His picture is printed and the article gives him high praise.
