COLLEGE NOTES Prof. Gill spent a part of the Eas ter vacation at his son's home in Philadelphia. The Thespians are practicing dai ly under the able training of Mrs. J. Hurley, of Buffalo. The Cotillion Club held a dance in McAllister Hall on Wednesday eve ling, March 28th. Mr. Shattuck who has been spend ing a few days in Washington, D.C. has returned to the College. Miss Natalie Ayars of Wilkes- Barre, is visiting at the home of Prof. and Mrs. W S. Ayars. A large number of students at tended the orchestra stag at McAl lister Hall last Saturday evening. . , The State Bee-keepers Associa tion, of Pennsylvania, held a con vention at State College on March 29th and 30th. Miss E. B. Meek, instructor , in Bacteriology in the Agricultural de partment during the winter term, has returned to her home in Bellefonte. Dr. Philips, in charge of Agricul ture, Washington, D.C., and Mr. E. R. Root, of the firm of A. J. Root & Co., Medina, Ohio, were enter tained recently at the home of Prof. Surface. On Saturday evening, March 24 the College Band gave a concert be fore a small but very appreciative audience. It is a shame more fel lows did not turn out to support this worthy organization. Prof. W. S. Hall, the head of the department of Mines and Mining of Lafayette College spent two days here last week visiting his college chum, Prof. J. H. Tudor. While here he inspected the department of the College. At the suggestion of the upper c asses the Freshmen have adopted a cap which will be of a dark green color. The object is to establish a THE STATE COLLEGIAN custom by which Freshmen early in the year will be able to recognize their class mates. It is reported that the Pharsonians will not perform during Commence ment week as has been customary. Instead the Glee Club will likely ap pear. At a "feed" of the Electrical En gineering Society held in McAllister Hall Tuesday evening, March 27th, the following officers were elected to serve for the spring term : Hol linger, Pres.; Kamerer. Vice Pres.; Jacobs, Sec.,and Roper, Treas. Friends of Prof. and Mrs. Espen shade have recently received com munications sent from• Malaga, Spain, where they will remain about six weeks longer. It will be remem bered that Mr. Espenshade was granted a six months leave of ab sence last fall. ALUMNI F. T. Cole, 'OO, was a visitor at the college this week. J. A. Hunter, 'O5, is teaching Latin and Greek at the Millersburg State Normal School. Fred L. Neely, 'O5 is a graduate apprentice with the Allis—Chalmers Co. at Milwaukee, Wis. H. C. George, 'O4, who is teach ing in the Mining department at W. U. P. spent the latter part of last week at the College. Clay Spreclrer, '9B, who has been situated in the Pittsburg offices of the Allis—Chalmers Co. has been transfered to the Cleveland, 0., department. Albert F Damon, '94, the well known engineer of Darby, who sur veyed for nine boroughs in Delal4 are county last year, has been elected to a similar position by the Counci cf Clifton Heights, which makes him engineer for ten boroughs, a position unequaled by any other engineer in the State.
