News From " Down East.” On the evening of Jan. 12th The Pennsylvania State College Alumni Association of New England held its quarterly meeting and banquet at the Quincy House, Boston, Mass. Fifteen out of the twentv-five on the roll were present. At eight o’clock, following a general hand shake in the parlors, the grand march to the dining room started with President Hile and “Dude” Walker, who represented the hun griest man in the lead. The dinner and program were en tirely informal, gaps between courses being shortened by songs ; and jokes and stories of old times at State were many. Some excitement was caused by the persistent effort of Hile, Walker and Miller to turn the affair into a discussion on children’s diseases. Short talks were made by Hile, Walker, Bowen, Mi'ler, Butler and Clendenin, the last named sticking to his usual subject, “The Ladies.” At the business meeting, Messrs. Walker, Wirt and Bowen were ap pointed a committee to draw up an expression of the feeling of the New England Alumni on the resignation of Dr. Atherton. It was moved and carried that the President make a draft of the ideas brought out for making the Asso ciation a greater help to the College and present this draft at the next meeting. It was decided that the next meet ing be held on the evening of May sth, 1906. The following men were present: Robt. Mathias, ’95, Vice President; B. J. Bowen, ’96, Secy. Treas.; W. H.
