Uuder command of Captain’ Du barry and Manager Pro-tem “Brutus” Stamm our “scrub” basketball five went out last Friday for victory. The cities of Lock Haven and Williamsport were visited by the Reserves, and at each place they stopped long enough to annex a clean cut victory, the respective losers being Lock Haven Normal and Williamsport High School, neither of which however, being over whelmed without the fiercest kind of a struggle, both being noted 'for being hard propositions on their home floors. However, our team was not daunted and won out in the two well played games by the scores of 12 to 10 and 19 to 12. The game at Lock Haven was the most exciting, the score standing 4 to 4 at the end of the first half, and then 10 to 10 at the finish of the second; so that it took an extra period of 8 minutes for Dubarry to throw the winning goal and land State the winner. “Dick” Quigley, ex-’O6, refereed this game and gave excellent satisfaction all around. The referee at Williamsport was al so a competent official although the small floor made the game far from gentle. Credit is due the Reserves f.or their splendid showing. "David Harum.” One of the most enjoyable enter tainments of the Y. M. C. A. course was that of last Friday evening when Professor E. Livingston Barbour of Rutgers College gave the. story of “David Harum” in the Auditorium. Mr. Barbour, in his impersonation THE STATE COLLEGIAN of the central New York banker and “hoss-swapper” gave a picture of David Harum as the story itself pre sents him, shrewd, humorous wi'.h a wonderful amount of philosophy in looking at life,. and yet generous to a degree. In all the characters, Mr. Barbour succeeded admirably, but it was as Dave Harum that he captivated his audience and carried his hearers with him from one story to the next, at one time causing them to break into laughter, and again holding them quiet with the pathos of the situf tions. Particularly humorous were Dave’s experiences in the New York theater with his sister Polly, and his visit to fashionable Newport. During the evening several musi cal numbers were interspersed, Misses Atherton and Grieb render ing a piano duet and an encore and Miss Atherton a piano solo in a very pleasing manner.
