    The Basket Ball Season Opened.
Friday night Dec. 15, in the Col
lege Armory the Junia+a College five
helped State’s team to open their
basketball season. Captain Heaton
and his men had a very easy time of
it after the first few moments of
play, although the Juniata lads are a
plucky lot and kept right into the
game all the time.
State’s team showed evidences of
team work which indicate good
things for the future, and with hard
constant practice our five looks like
the best we have ever had, as there is
an abundance of good, willing ma
terial, in addition to the five regular
Varsity men from last season; viz.,
Heaton, Foltz, Yeckley, Kilmer, and
Moorhead. Of the new men in this
game, Dubarry, Lauder, Waha,
and Ross, all performed in promis
ing fashion and displayed a good
knowledge of the game.
The final score was 57 to 8, and
State’s men might have easily run
up more points, had not Captain
Heaton thought it best to spend
some time on the passing game.
Yeckley did the best shooting, while
Heaton and Kilmer excelled in the
‘'floor” game. Here is the score:

Short Course Students.
Up to the present time there are
enrolled fifty-six new students in the
short courses of the college, there
being twenty-nine creamery students
and twenty-seven in the short course
in agriculture. Facilities for these
courses are better than ever before
and conditions will be even more
improved before next year.
The courses are strong ones,
practical in their application to pre
sent day needs, and the time spent
here should be profitable to the
students enrolled.
