dashes for the “White and Blue.”
Neither eleven showed good offen
sive power, while on the defense
State’s men performed grandly, their
all around tackling being especially
fine. Almost every man in Captaiu
Yeckley’s line-up contributed several
spectacular flying tackles in the open
field, and the huge crowd w'as not
slow in showing its admiration for
the sturdy work of State’s sons.
As for condition, Coach Golden’s
team seemed to be in almost perfect
trim, and the battle looked more try
ing on the Redmen than upon their
husky opponents. In speed and in
terference the Indians were ahead of
our team, but these faults may be
corrected by a month’s hard work
and experience. As for team work
the veteran Carlisle eleven certainly
had the call over State’s compara
tively “green” aggregation, espe
cially on the offensive.
But we have all just reason to be
mighty proud of our’Varsityeleven,
which gives great promise for the
future, and will certainly prove an
honor to “Old State,” if we all stick
by our ’Varsity men, and show them
every day that they have our un
qualified support. “Here’s to Old
Penn State,” may she always be
right, but right or wrong, Our Col
lege!” The playing last Saiurday
was as follows:
FIRST HALF
Mt. Pleasant kicked off to 5 yard
line, McGee comes back 30 yards.
Gotwals gets 2 at tackle* then Mc-
Gee punts 30 yards out of bounds.
For the Indians Captain Bowen be
gan with a 3 yard gain at tackle, and
Archiquette went through for 1.
Mt. Pleasant punted 50 yards to
Moorhead, who ran back 20 of that
distance. McWilliams gained a yard
and time was taken out' for Lubo.
Then McGee punted 40 yards and
Mt. Pleasant sailed back 20 on a

fake line plunge Dubois rounded end
for 4, Exendine failed at center, and
5 yards was given the Redskins for
State’s offside play. “Archi” got
2 at tackle plunge, Albanez 10
through guard, Lubo 5, and Jude 15
around end. Bowen got 2, Dubois
1, and Kennedy went out for repairs.
With the oval on State’s 10 yard line
Archie got clear for 3 around the
end, Moorhead’s flying tackle bring
ing him to earth, and then Bowen
barely made it first down. Dillon 3

and Exendine over the line for a
touchdown, after 15 minutes of hard
playing. Dillon failed at goal, leav
ing the score at 5 to 0.
McGee kicked off to Dubois who
traveled back 8 yards, and Kenne
dy was again laid out on the turf.
Mt. Pleasant punted 40 and Jude
downed Moorhead with gain. Cal
2, and McGee kicked 40 metres,
Mt. Pleasant dashing back 20.
Albanez hurdled 3 and Bowen
made it first down. Varsity Barr
tackled Jude on the next play for 3
yards loss, but Dußois and Bowen
made the distance. Archiquette
fumbled and Shaw was on the ball
with State cheers fairly cleaving the
atmosphere into shreds. Yeckley
was hurt on this play and then
fumbled on the next line-up, Jude
nipping the leather. Albanez got 2,
and Barr was out with a bad bump.
With the ball in middle of the
field Exendine got 5 at tackle, Dil
lon 1, Dußois 4, Archi 12 at end,
Albanez 3, and 10 yards was award
ed State for some Hiawatha’s hold
ing propensities. With over 10 yards
to gain Mt. Pleasant neatly worked
the quarter-back kick and it was
Carlisle’s ball for Ist down. State’s
sons here got mad, and Gotwals
threw Exendine back for 2 yards
loss, Shaw did likewise for Archi,
and on a bad pass for a punt Mt.
Pleasant fell on the oval for 10 yards
loss, the ball going to State. Yeckley
didn’t gain at end but 5 yards was
