Football
The Bellefonte Academy eleven
was scheduled to play against State’s
Varsity on Beaver Field last Satur
day afternoon. Owing to the crip
pled condition of the Academy’s
team its manager was compelled to
call this game off, much to the dis
appointment of- our Manager Bair,
who was very anxious that State’s
eleven be given all possible practice
previous to their big game at Har
risburg on October 7th. In place
of Bellefonte the “scrubs” lined up
against the Varsity for two fiercely
fought fifteen minute halves, each
team scoring only once. Behee
carried the ball over for the second
team and McGee for the Varsity
eleven.
The Indians look very strong. If
there is “anything in a name” each
Carlisle brave will undoubtedly have
the advantage over his State op
ponent. For how can “Mother”
Dunn at centre be expected to battle
successfully against Little- Old-Man;
while Shaw at guard is liable to
burn his fingers seriouslv in trying
to handle “ Chestnut-in-the-Fire
likewise Tackle Kunkle will have a
desperate time of it with ‘ ‘ Two-
Dogs-in-the-Snow,” as “Varsity”
Barr at left end is grappling with
“ Nicodemus Billy” —and thus
throughout the opposing line-ups !
The Stag.
The stag dance given by the or
chestra last Saturday night was high
ly successful both from a financial
and musical standpoint. About
three hundred fellows danced from
eight until eleven o’clock to the
catchy and up-to-date music furnish
ed by the orchestra. The opinion
prevailed that the dance was one of
the best of its kind given at the col
lege for some time. We trust that
many more occasions of this kind
miv follow during the coming year.
