Last Friday afternoon on Beaver Field before a large and appreciative audience State’s Varsity nine played the star role in a roaring farce comedy, entitled “It was a shame to take the Mezuma,” or “All is Silent in Carlisle To-night.” After defeating Dickinson 10 to 2 down at Carlisle two weeks ago with Haverstick pitching, State put Mc- Ilveen on the slab for the return game on Beaver Field, and .what “Mac” did to Dickinson was an ex treme muchness. McKeown, a youthful southpaw, who was fresh from a 9to 1 victory over Ursinus, with 14 strikeouts daugling at his belt; —this same immature Mc- Keown essayed to deliver the sphere last Friday evening, and it is reported the volcanic dust (large ly composed of horse-hide) is still falling over on Mount Nittany. It was the most decisive baseball vic tory which State has ever gained from Dickinson, and it is putting it very mildly to say that State com pletely outclassed their rivals in every department of the game. In the fourth inning Dickinson got their lonely hit a scratch single to right field by Davis on which Moor head came within an ace of retiring the runner. Cree’s batting was a feature, but the entire team batted well, and fielded for Mcllveen in perfect style. It was a great game of ball from State’s view-point, and many moons may roll around before Dickinson is again lambasted in such artistic fashion. Ross, the Fresh man outfielder, was tried in middle field, and performed in creditable fashion, although nothing came his (Continued on page 3) ollegian. Price Five Cents. Track News. The track-team is fast developing into winning form and should un doubtedly give a good account of it self in the dual meets with Dickin son on May 20, and with the In dians on May 22. The rumor that the Dickinson meet had been can celled owing to the : loss of then grandstand by fire is probably false as Manager Williams has not receiv ed any such notification. In prac tice recently Arnold, 'O6, ran the hundred in 10 2-5 seconds and the two-twenty in 23 4-5 second, and it is thought that he will clip off the fractions in each case in the races. The inter-class relay-race, which through a misunderstanding was published as being on May 3, is to to take place Saturday June 3. The inter-class track meet will be held as scheduled this week, Saturday, May 13, and the results will in a large measure determine the team to be taken to Carlisle next week. Y. M. C. A. Campus Meeting, On next Sunday evening at six o’clock the Y. M. C. A. will hold an open meeting on the front campus. State students’ secretary, Miller, will be here for the service, and will probably make a short address on the student conferences to be held this summer at Northfield and Lake side, Ohio. A sacered concert by the band will a pleasing part of the meeting, which, weather permitting, should be as enjoyable and helpful as the ones held last spring in the same way. All are invited to come out to this short service next Sunday evening.
