Now that the relay team has
proved that State has good athletic
material for track events, it should
be pride of the student-body to sup
port in every way track athletics.
Theie remain three important dual
meets to be contested by State’s
Varsity team : Dickinson at Car
lisle on Saturday, May 20 ; Carlisle
Indians on Monday, May 22, and
the Commencement meet with the
Indians here at State.
Those who are out for the team
are working faithfully, and prospects
are good for a fast all-round squad.
But there is a lot of good mater
ial in the college that is not being
developed, whether from doubting
of one's ability, or because of too
much college work, or on account
of pure indifference, we do not
know. What we need are more
second place men ; men who make
it possible for State to win both first
and second places in a contest. A
large number of second-places
go a long way toward the winning of
an athletic meet. With the outgo
ing Senior class will pass some of
State’s stand-bys, and their places
must be filled by the under-class
men. In the hurdles, high and
broad jumps, and pole vaut, candi
dates are especially needed for de
velopment for next year’s team.
Think it over, under-classmen,and
then act!
