    Preps Scared,
Last Friday evening three Preps
went over into the mountains back of
Shingletown to camp out. About
twelve o’clock their slumbers were
disturbed by a knocking at the door
of the cabin, a dark lantern was
flashed in their faces, and they were
commanded to produce their eata
bles, which consisted mainly of
bread and cheese. The “moon
shiners” (?) at the point of a re
volver deprived the scared youngs
sters of everything and then, chok
ing back their laughter and glee at
the success of their ruse, retired
some distance and enjoyed a mid
night feed. It was not until the next
day that the badly scaied Preps
learned that it was some of their
own classmates and acquaintances
who had so completely taken them
in.
The University Library at Ithaca,
New York, received a valuable col
lection of letters and correspondence
of the late Bayard Taylor as a
donation from Mrs. Taylor, with a
promise of his Faust collection later.
The papers are very valuable from
an educational point of view. The
only condition imposed by the donor
is that no part of the writings shall
be published during Mrs. Taylor’s
life.

Some Notes on the Eastern Trip,
“Andy” Lytle, Esq., accompa
nied the ‘ ‘State’ ’ team and helped the
boys win from Dickinson. After
every Dickinsonian cheer came
Andy’s thrilling cry, “State” against
the world.”
It is reported on good authority
that “Billy” Yoder will take a trip
to London immediately after his
graduation here in June —By Jove !
State’s players were fortunate
enough to occupy the same coach as
the Hon. William Jennings Bryan
en-route to Harrisburg. “Andy”
Lytle explained his views on several
weighty political matters with great
fluency.
A certain member of State’s team
got mixed up with a wedding party
at Lancaster and drew a thunder of
applause by kissing the bride.
The murky fumes of the ‘ ‘Sub
way” somewhat impaired the bat
ting eyes of State’s players.
Dr. George S. Conant, who willed
his brain to Cornell to aid scientific
investigations, was robbed of his
wish through a blunder of the un
dertaker who embalmed the body
before learning of the peculiar char
acter of the will. —Ex.
