Recital by Musical Clubs,
The recital given by the Glee and
Mandolin Clubs at the Auditorium
last Saturday evening was a decided
success musically, every number on
the program being encored; and the
audience departed with a satisfied
feeling of a well-spent evening.
The program opened with the Col
lege Medley by the Glee Club with
Mandolin accompaniment, and closed
with our “Alma Mater’’ song.
In the rendition of the ‘ ‘Winter
Song’’ and of “Missis Winslow’s
Soothing Syrup” the Glee Club was
particularly good, while, the Man
dolin Club rendered in a delightful
manner “Bebe” and “Come, Take
a Trip in My Airship.”
Saunders, 'O5, sang “The Ban
dolero” with splendid expression,
receiving an encore; while Mr. Swain
of Bellefonte, a guest at the College
over Sunday, gave several well
rendered selections.
The work of both clubs showed
the interest taken in it by the mem-

bers. It is to be regretted that
more was not exhibited by the stu
dent body, for the size of the audi
ence was far from encouraging.
The Glee and Mandolin Clubs left
yesterday for a date in Johntown,
and will return to college to-day.
Baseball
State’s Varsity baseball team re
turned last week from its Southern
trip, which proved one of the most
successful journeys ever taken by
any State team. The scores of the
first two games have already been
published ; State 5 Mt. St. Mary’s
1, and Annapolis 1 State 11 and
here are the tabulated scores for the
last two victories. Although “our
boys” were far from being in the
best of condition, nevertheless they
jumped into every game with such
ginger and determination as to make
a victory almost certain. The last
game of the trip, with Georgetown,
had to be called off on account of
rain, just when State felt sure of
victory, as Mcllveen had been saved
to pitch the game.
