Miss Redifer, Lady Principal, is
confined to her room with a severe
attack of rheumatism. >
Miss Alma Hinkle, one of our
too few Co-eds, left College on
Tuesday. Miss Hinkle expects to
return next year.
Trials for the Glee Club were held
in the Auditorium on Monday and
Tuesday evenings. A goodly bunch
of candidates turned out.
Mr. L. L. Ansart who, since 'OO,
has been instructor in mathematics
at this college, has accepted a position
in the Newark High School, N. J.
C. R. Smith 'O6, last season’s
Varsity tackle, has left college and
gone into mine-surveying work for
the Lehigh Valley Coal Co. at
Centralia.
The students rooming in the
Track House gave a dance last Fri
day evening. Guests were in at
tendance from the Ladies’ Cottage
and from the town. Mrs. C. D.
Fehr chaperoned the merry com
pany.
The Scranton Club met last Sat
urday evening in room 584, and de
cided to give a supper at Harrison’s
on Friday night Feb. 10th. It was
also agreed that the Club picture
should be taken for the ’O6 La Vie,
and that a copy of the La Vie
should be sent to the Scranton High
School.
The miscreant who stole a pocket
book, containing five dollars, from
the clothing of one of the ’Varsity
basket ball men last week while the
latter were engaged in practice, de
serves if caught the worst kind of
punishment that can be administered
by the body of students. The pocket
book, minus the five dollars, was
later found in front of the Armory.
Should the guilty one be discovered
it is not necessary to say what will
happen to him.
Y. M. C. A. Notes.
A group for Bible study has lately
been formed in the Track House.
This class will meet at a convenient
hour every Sunday morning and is
especially designed for the men who
live in the Track House.
It may be of interest to those who
will hear Prof. Takasugi next Mon
day evening to know that it is his
custom to give 40 per cent of all of
the proceeds of his lectures to the
cause of Christian missions in his
own land. A feature of his lecture
is a collection of sterioptican views
of Japanese scenes.
A letter has come recently from
Mr. Robert E. Speer with regard to
Mr. S. M. Sayford who is to speak
to the students of State on Sunday,
Feb. 19th. Mr. Speer says: “The
Pennsylvania colleges are fortunate
in getting Mr. Sayford for some
work this winter. Mr. Sayford is
one of the truest, most direct, most
helpful men I know. In years past,
he has been able to do for the stu
dents of Pennsylvania and other
states, work of the greatest value
and spiritual power. ’ ’ Let every
State man see that he gels to hear
Mr. Sayford while he is with us.
