The members of the Stroudsburg
Club enjoyed a “feed” at Harri
son’s restaurant last Friday evening.
The Lewisburg, Tyrone, and
Bald Eagle Valley Railroad Co.
carries extra cars on all trains this
week to handle the heavy traffic out
of Lemont!
A large number of students par
took of the chicken and waffle sup
per given last Friday evening at
Sheasley’s restaurant as a benefit
for the Alpha Fire Co. of State
College.
The Sophomore class met Mon
day evening and decided to attend
no more history classes until there
was a change in the instruction force
in that subject. The outcome is
awaited with interest.
E. C. Williams, a member of the
Junior class, left college last week to
take a position at Washington, D.
C. in connection with the work of
the Panama Canal. Heexpecls to be
transferred later to the Isthmus and
to be engaged in the active work of
construction.
A few Juniors aroused considera
ble amusement on Wednesday
morning of last week by appealing
in chapel with suit cases and bread
baskets full of reference books for
the exam in Machine Design. We
never knew before that this subject
was so “heavy. ”
A meeting of the Alumni Com
mittee on Arrangements for the
Semi-Centernial was to have oc
curred last Friday but had to be
postponed to February 10, when
there will be a joint meeting of this
committee with a committee of the
Faculty for the same purpose.
Prof. Foster is starting a class in
Spanish. All students above the
Freshman class are privileged to

On Monday evening the Associa
tion held another one of its social
evenings in room 529, which was
largely attended. The chief amuse
ment feature of the evening was a
phonograph concert.
Mr. A. M. Sayford who has been
making a special tour among some
of 'he Pennsylvania colleges will be
at State, Tuesday, Feb. 19th. He
will speak in the College Chapel in
the evening. Mr. John R. Mott
says of him: “In my judgment
Mr. S. M- Sayford is one of the
mosc acceptable and effective speak
ers to college men whom I
know in any country. He has
probably addressed more and larger
audiences of students throughout all
paits of the United States than any
other speaker. He has especially
appealed to the strongest men in the
colleges regardless of their views
upon different moral and religious
questions. Certain of his addresses
have made a profound impression
upon college audiences. ”
The Chicago Lady Entertainers.
On last Saturday evening the
Chicago Lady Entertainers gave a
concert, consisting of quartets, solos,
duets, and selected leadings', in the
Old Chapel. The large audience
present was r.ot disappointed, for
C c entertainment was very pleasing
in every way, and encores were
called for lepeatedly, so that the
program \ as more than doubled.
