Y. M. C. A Notes
At the meeting of the Association
on Dec. 19th, a Christmas offering
was made toward the support of Mr.
C. W. Harvey, Pennsylvania’s
representative in the foreign field.
Mr. Harvey is a graduate of Buck
nell, and was at one time Student
Secretary for the State. He is at
present located in Tientsin, China,
engaged in Association work.
The constitution of the Associa
tion, lately revised, has been printed
in pamphlet form. Copies may be
had by all members by application
to the Secretary.
The first of a series of social
evenings for the members of Bible
study classes was held on Saturday
evening, Dec. 10th. About twenty
five men gathered in the Association
rooms where the evening was spent
in playing games. Later refresh
ments were served. The arrange
ments were in charge of B. D.
Kunkle and G. W. Groff.
The Annual Strength Tests.
During the annual strength tests
here this week H. C. Offutt, ’O5
broke all previous records by mak
ing a total of 9210 points. W. T.
Dunn ’OB, comes second with 8597
points, and L. O. Kuhn 'O5 is third
with 7653. In his Freshman year
Offutt only made a total of 6010
points, so that his present record
shows a gain of 3200 points; he is 5
feet 10 in height, weighs 152, and is
the champion middle weight wrest •
ler at State.
The system used by Director
Golden is a modified form of the
Sargent code, and Offutt’s achieve
ment is considered remarkable.
The examination of the present
Freshman class, numbering 310, has
been completed by Director Golden,
and he pronounces this class the
best in all around development which
has ever entered State. Twenty
three per cent, of the class use to
bacco.—Times.
