State’s base ball team has been somewhat handicapped this
spring by being unable to meet on the diamond on account' of the
cold, wet weather. Nevertheless, indoor work was steadily kept
up under the direction of Coaches, D. O. Williams and Mr.
Golden, and a few afternoons on the field made clear to Capt.
Elder that he had a nine which would do as good work as any
team in the history of State. Every man was' in his place, doing
his very best, so that this season may end with the most brilliant
base ball tabulations on the college record.
The season opened in a practice game with Bellefonte Academy
on April 9, amidst the inclemency of a cold rain. -The game was
the close of the third inning on account of the disagree
able weather. The score was 3 to oin favor of State.

Percy studied chemistry,
Studied long and late.
Percy breathed some chlorine gas,
He’ll not graduate.— Ex.
