The unexpected often happens, and it surely did happen at
Williamsport on Saturday, November 14th. After the parade
over the main streets students were heard declaring that a “walk
over” was at hand, and hoping that Dickinson would at least put
up a game fight. They were not disappointed in their wishes.
Dickinson students were as dejected as we were hopeful. How
soon the conditions were reversed.
Every sign indicated a nainy day for the game, but at noon
the sun shone and lighted up the numerous banners of white and
blue. Only occasionally was the red to be seen. Long before time
for the game the crowd poured into the Seminary Field, until fully
three thousand spectators were assembled. The Dickinson stu
dents to the unmber of about one hundred were all on one little
set of bleachers to the right of the grand stand, in which sat the
Seminary girls, largely wearing the red and white. Surrounding
the field on three sides were the State “rooters,” five hundred
strong. White and blue was so predominant that even Nature
decked out in white clouds and blue sky.
A mighty cheer went up when the teams came on the field.
After a short practice the teams lined up for the struggle. Dickiit-
