State, 60 —Dickinson Seminary, o. State opened the foot ball season here Saturday, September 19th, by a game with Dickinson Seminary. It could more properly be called a race than a game, since it was only a question of how often the team could line up, open for a touchdown, and kick the goal in the time allowed. The softness of the Seminary men seemed to show short training. Coaches Sweet and Golden play ed a large number of the foot ball squad to determine their quali ties. A detailed account of the game would be very tiresome. The halves were 15 minutes. Referee, F. Robinson; umpire, J. Robinson. The State-Geneva game for September 26th was cancelled by Geneva owing to the physical condition of her team. There was much disappointment among the students over this cancellation, since it made the number of games at State very limited. The ’Varsity and the scrub teams met in a practice game at the tirne appointed for the Geneva game. The ’Varsity was held to one touchdown. State, 24 —Allegheny College, 5. The last game of the season on the home grounds was played with Allegheny College, Saturday, October 3d.- Allegheny put up a strong game and gave State no little trouble. The first score against State on Beaver Field since ’9B was made in this game. In the first half Allegheny kicked off, and after a few long gains Elder carried the ball over for the first touchdown. Elder kicked the goal. Mcllveen was shoved over for a second touch- State—Geneva College.
