Among the books on the following list are some of the
notable publications of the year:
"The Memoirs of Paul Kruger," and the story of "The Boer
War," told by one of its most heroic leaders, Gen. De Wet,
are full of interest.
"The Diamond Mines of South Africa," by F. H. Williams,
is sumptuous in binding and illustration, and gives a most en
tertaining history of the mines, and a description of the man
ner in which they are worked. It is in the Department of
Mining Engineering.
The list also includes Angelo Heilprin's vivid account of the
eruptions of Mount Pelee, and two valuable biographies,
Bernard Alderson's "Andrew Carnegie," and Scudder's Life
of Lowell.
