That the banquet was such a success was due to the careful management, and earnest work of the committee, which was composed of the following: Daniel D. Dodge, Chairman; Charles S. Carothers, Charles H. Smith, Clark P. Stewart, Geo. Ashbridge and Alexander B. Cromer. --On January 20th .President Atherton arrived home from Europe, where he had gone for pleasure and a long-needed rest. The students, knowing the appointed hour for his arrival, as sembled with a few of the professors in front of the main building and gave him a hearty welcome. The doctor, being tired from his journey, greeted the students, but postponed his address until the following morning in chapel. The Faculty, being as anxious as the students to hear the President's remarks, attended chapel almost to a man, while students who had been allowed absences showed a similar appreciation of Dr. Atherton's arrival by occupying their College Miscellany.
