A. L. Smith, 'O5, left for Philadelphia, Novi 7, and will enter the University of Pennsylvania. In Smith, State College loses an efficient foot ball player. His place at full-back will be hard to fill. The first informal dance of rthe season was given by the Sigma Chi Fraternity, Friday exening, Nov. 7. Guests were present from Sunbury, Lock Haven, Williamsport, Lemont, and Bellefonte., The Germania Orchestra, of Lock Haven, furnished the music. After a political victory there comes rejoicing. Saturday evening, Nov. 8, the student body gave expression to its feel ings in no uncertain manner. The College Band /was at the head of a large parade of students, bearing the usual torches and transparencies. Red fire and fireworks were set off from a float all along the line of march. Several speeches were made by different men of local prominence. President Atherton gave his sanction to the movement in a few well chosen words. The celebration was ended with salutes from the old cannon and a big bonfire on the campus. A telegram was received from Judge Pennypacker thanking the students for their good will, and expressing his regrets at his inability to be present. Maro, the magician, appeared here, Nov. 8, under the auspices of the Y. M. C. A. The audience was the largest that has assembled in the Chapel for a long time and to say that it was well pleased is a mild statement. Maro is certainly a splendid entertainer. The Department of Zoology has just received an albino red i squrrel shot in this county. The squirrel is pure white in color and has pink eyes. It will be mounted and placed on exhibition in the museum. Persons throughout the state who obtain unusual specimens are requested to forward the same by mail or express to the Zoological Department of the College, State College, Pa.
