electric car lines, in two ways: first, as a means of cheap and rapid transportation to the healthier atmosphere of suburban homes readily accessible from business; and second, in many localities as a means of transportation to the country, or seashore, or parks, where an occasional outing may be en joyed. The Government relies in large measure on the tele graph to keep in touch with the many branches of its various departments. The self government of a nation of 80,000,000 people without this aid would indeed present problems. That electricity plays an important part in the inner life of the people is undeniable. Eilectricity stands for progress. This is continually being demonstrated. Not only does it stand for material progress, but also for advance in the intellectual life and in most of those things that pertain to the welfare of our countrymen.
