Work has begun on the rehearsal of- the different acts
and the interest taken by the actors shows that a proper
selection has been made in the choice of a play.
Mr. George L. Hager, of Buffalo, will be here from Dec.
11 to 17, as trainer for the Thespians. Mr. Hager is experi
enced in this work and the Thespians will no doubt be
bcnefitted by his efforts.
The most important additions to the library during
the last two months, are sixty books for the Department' of
Milling Engineering, six for the Department of Mechanical
Engineering and eleven for the Department of Chemistry.
The library received a gift from Dr. G. G. Groff, of
Eewisburg, Pa., of some books of special interest to the
Department of Botany and Horticulture, and several unbound
volumes of American Gardening.
The State and U. S. publications deserving special
mention, are:—Pennsylvania Record of Volunteers in the
Spanish-American War; U. S. History of the Capitol;
U. S. National Galleries of History and Art; U. S. History
of the State Department; U. S. History of the Public Build
ing's under the control of the U. S. Treasury.
But few are acquainted with the amount of hard work,
difficulties, and discouragements that lia!d to be encountered
before the Cadet Band became a reality. Many gave encour
agement by word and deed but to Dr. Taliaferro, formerly
of this place, now of Lake City, Florida, belongs the honor
