Dr. Runkle’s Entertainment.
Dr. Runkle entertained the Literary Club at his home on
Monday evening-, Nov. 11. Prof. Pattee read a paper on
“The Historical Romance, ” which was followed by a paper
on “John Piske’s Life Everlasting-” by Dr. Runkle.
On Monday evening Nov. 11, Miss Anna M. Cooper died
in Williamsport, Pa. Her native home was in New Orleans,
but the greater part of her life was spent in central Penn
sylvania. She was lady principal of The Pennsylvania State
College from 1879 to 1882. Her, character as a lady and the
social qualities that she possessed have won a warm spot in
the hearts of her friends, who will be pained to hear of her
decease.
The Poetical Works of Freneau.
The “Poetical Works of Philip Freneau,” the poet of
the American Revolution, are about to be issued by the His
torical Association of the University of Pennsylvania. The
work is complete and consists of two volumes, which contain
a biographical sketch, bibliography, and notes by Professor
Pattee. This collection of poems will appear upon the
market about August, 1902.
The cast of the new play, “The Russian Honeymoon,"
which has been selected this year, will be as follows :
