State met the cadets at West Point ou Oct. 16 in a game of two fifteen minute halves in which neither were able to score. State bucked the line magnificently, making good gains by pushing Cummings over the heads of the sol diers; while West Point made several pretty end runs. Prank Yocum had the misfortune to have his cheek bone crushed in the game. The line up was:— WEST POINT POSITIONS STATE • Smith, W. D., Capt... left end. Ruble Farnsworth left tackle Miller F. Phillips The result of the first big game, with Princeton on Oct. 10th, was rather disappointing to State sympathisers. How ever, had the White and Blue received fair play the score would at least been much smaller. Craft played the most brilliant game of any of the men on either side* often break ing through the Tigers interference and tackling his man. Whitworth was very effective in getting around the end. The work of both men elicited surprise and admiration from the spectators. The Tigers did most of their scoring in the first half. The first touchdown was made by Mattis on an end run. This was followed by three more to Hodgmau’s credit. In the re-, mainder of the first half Princeton had trouble in gaining, owing to the fine work of Craft, State’s left end.
