    The Free Lance.
FOOT BADE. ,
A signal; then a kick, a run,
A tackle, down; a line, a sign,
A pass, a push, a tangled mass
Of human forms, another down;
Another line, another sign,
A pass, a run around the end,
Down; up and on; perhaps to lose
Perhaps to gain, but ever on.
’Tis push or tackle, kick or run,
’Tis work with heart and brain afir<
’Tis fight to gain or hold each play,
’Tis fight for every foot of ground,
’Tis fight! Fight hard to win the jj
Whose winning makes each gain a j
Each loss a curse, each play a test
Of mighty force, each player play
With bold resolve to win or die.
