STATE won her fifth victory by defeating Franklin and Mar shall's ball tossers on May i3th. Franklin and Marshall came on State's home field strong and confident of victory, but alas she was dooMed to disappointment. Our boys on the other hand were confident of the game. On the whole the game was well played. The first three in nings were all State's, then P. & M. steadied up and held our fellows down to but one run for six innings. The score is not significant of the manner in which our boys found the ball, Burns had his opponents shooting ducks throughout the game. Hewitt's display of nerve in stealing two bases was appalling to the op ponents. Burns' home run was one for keeps, Hayes, Morgan, and Ruble also had their eyes on the ball. The score: STATE. While Buck nell did not expect to carry off all the honors in the events of the day before, she was confident of defeating our ball team. Here she was again mistaken and was defeated in a very loosely played game by our ball tossers. The game as a whole was of a ATHLETICS BASE BALL. STATE VS. F. & M. R. H. 0.
