Dickinson, confident, having wou eight successive games, at last met her Waterloo, and who did it ? Only one answer fits and that is: the whole team. Such playing as was done in that game was good for sore eyes. To say that everybody, but Dickinson, was pleased is putting it mildly. State's men played an elegant game all around, a hard catch by Hewitt in right, a one-handed stop of hot grounder by Morgan and Rubles' efforts to relieve the left field of one of its obstacles were hair-raisers. Hayes behind the bat was up to old-time form while Blair and Miller at Ist and 2nd were impregnable. Hepler at short with one excusable error played a good fielding game but was weak at the bat. All the fielders deserve praise for their work. Of the Dickinson team Bindenberger, Runkle and Kerr put up the best game while the whole team played a clean game of ball. State opened up the game with a run then Bill opened his stable and let out a few and retired Dickinson without a run. State got another chance to add to her list in the second and piled on one more. Dickinson also scored one in her half but 'in the next State succeeded by good base running to add two more while Dickinson failed to tally. In the fourth neither side scored. In the fifth State scored again while Dickinson failed. In the sixth, seventh, and eighth neither side scored and Dickinson only once in the ninth on an error by Burns. The score does not show the hard hitting that was done by State. Nearly all the men ac quitted themselves nobly, having their eye upon the ball. The score was as follows: STATI4.
