    the end of the game for Hayes and Curtin, were good for a. num
ber of large gains. With the exception of his failure to hold the
ball on some of Mathewson's punts, Cure played a fine game,
both in punting and in making good gains through and over the
centre.
Bucknell's only strength lay in Mathewson's fine punting. She
was able to gain but little either through State's line or around
the ends. Her only considerable gain was made by Stanton
around the right end for 35 yards on a trick play similar to the
one which cost State a touchdown in her game with Susquehanna.
The details of the game were as follows:
First Wl—State won the toss and chose the south goal in
order to take advantage of a slight wind blowing towards the
north. Ross caught Mathewson's kick on the 35 yard line and
advanced 15 yards, State gained 15 yards on several plays and
then fumbled, Reimer obtaining the ball.
Bucknell lost the ball on a fumble after gaining 5 yards. Cur
tin went through the left end for 15 yards, Cure through right
tackle for 2, Hayes around right end for 40 yards to the 15 yard
line, State advanced 7 yards and Cure punted but Bucknell
blocked the kick and obtained the ball. Mathewson punted 3o
yards, Bucknell got the ball on State's fumble, Mathewson
punted to State's 25 yard line and State again failed to secure the
ball, Cober advanced 5 yards through centre, and Mathewson
missed a field goal. Cure and Mathewson exchanged punts,
Cure obtained the ball on State's 10 yard line and advanced 15
yards, Hayes went around the right end for 25 yards and Curtin
through the left end for 15. Bucknell was given the ball for off
side playing and Mathewson punted to Cure after Garner had
lost 3 yards. Cure punted to Garner who advanced to State's 4o
yard line, Cober gained 3 yards through the centre, and Mathew
son kicked out of bounds on a place kick. Cure punted out of
bounds, giving Bucknell the ball 25 yards from State's goal.
Bucknell was given io yards for off-side playing on the part of
State, Mathewson again failed to make a goal from the field.
After a series of punts by Cure and Mathewson State was given
io yards on an off-side play by Bucknell, Heckel lost 3 yards,
Cure punted to Garner, and Mathewson punted to Cure. From
