The officers of the organization for the present year are: presi

Dr. John M. Gregory, who during the year '95—'96 held the
position of preacher to the College and the professorship in Polit
ical 'Economy, died at his home in Washington, D. C., several
weeks ago.
Invitation in the class colors, maroon and gray, appeared a few
days ago for a reception to the Senior Class, to be held on Nov.
18th, at the home of Miss McKee, '99.
At the last business meeting of the Phoenix Literary Society, the
following officers were elected: president, V. M. Weaver, '99; vice
president, L. M. Reno, 'or; secretary, H. E. Wagner, '99; treas
urer, A. H. Throne, 'oo; marshal, V. H. Miller, '99; chaplain,
G. J. Yundt, '99; critic, H. P. Wood, '99; editors, R. C. Bell,
'99, J. C. Reed, '99, A. B. Gill, 'oo, and J. Agnew, 'oo.
In accordance with Governor Hastings' proclamation, Thurs
day, Oct. 20 was observed as a holiday at the College Some of
the students took advantage of this by attending the Peace Jubilee
in Philadelphia.
Mr. P. B. Brenneman, instructor in the Department of Civil
Engineering, spent a few days at his home in Saxton, Pa., during
the latter part of October.
H. E. Wagner, '99, was called home during the early part of
October by the death of his father.
Between forty and fifty guests were present at the reception
given by the members of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity in their
chapter house on the evening of Oct. 14.
