Beaver Field, considering the lateness of the game, was in very fair condition, offering equal chances to both teams. Promptly at 3:30 they lined tip for the kick-off. After an exchange of punts both sides .got down to steady work. From the beginning it was evident that the Sophomores could score only by extreme effort. Their defense, however, was. superb, considering the weight of their adversaries. So that when the first half ended without a score for either side, things looked hopeful for the Sophomores, while traces of anxiety were plainly evident on the faces of the Freshmen. In the second half, however, the latter took a decided brace, and by successive rushes carried the ball to the five-yard line. Maxwell was given the ball but fumbled. Stuart, following closely, was on it in an instant, and the next moment was over the line for a touchdown. Then pandemonium broke loose among the Freshmen, which was silenced only when Stuart failed an easy goal. The remainder of the game saw no scoring, although it was teeming with interest to the end. The entire contest was full of sensational plays. Twice Thomas broke away from the interference for long runs only to be brought down by Boyd. But perhaps no play was watched so anxiously as. Boyd's try for a field goal, which missed by several yards. The line-up: Haldeman, Cartwright Thompson Miller, D. Weldy Taylor . . (rapt.) (Young) Ruble .
