Prof. Willard has taken this year's class in Elementary Me-
chanics
The Bellefonte Central Railway Co. has taken off the evening
train, leaving but two trains a clay—one in the morning, the other
in the middle of the afternoon.
The ice cream made by the students in the Dairy Course has
been pronounced very good by those who have sampled it.
THE FREE LANCE has lately put a letter-box on the door of
Room 323. We hope that all will take the opportunity to drop
some articles for publication into it.
'9l C. M. Green, in a recent letter to Prof. Osinond, gives
some account of his work in developing the largest arc dynamo
machine in the world. This machine is built from his design and
contains matters worked out in the Department of Physics for the
Degree of E. E. It is on his Multi-Circuit plan which Prof.
Elihu Thompson has so favorably noticed.
Owing to an increase over the usual number of students in
Biology, the seating capacity of the recitation room has been en
larged.
The members of the Sophomore Class appeared with their new
class canes, Sunday, January 9. Owing to a delay in the manu
facture, they were not obtained last term.
The schedule of basket ball to he played this season is com
pleted.

A set of pulley-weights, a set of pedals and a rowing machine
have been added to the apparatus of the gymnasium. In addi
tion to this the old apparatus has been repaired and a large
shower-bath has been placed in the dressing-room.
The Department of Physics has just received a fine, large
Foncault Heliostat and a Standard Metre, both made by the
Societe Genevoise.
• During the latter part of last session a competition drill was
arranged for the different companies composing the battalion.
