Time of game,
State was shut out for the second time this season at Princeton,
October 12. The result of the match was not so much of a sur
prise as the previous game, though some of the most sanguine-had
hoped that we might score. And to tell the truth, we did not
come far from it. During the first twelve minutes of play State
completely outplayed Princeton, keeping the ball in the latter’s
territory and often dangerously near her goal line. Undoubtedly
the Blue and White put up the best game of the season. Her in
terference was superb, and in her dashes at the line she seldom
failed to gain. Her men broke through the line and frequently
tackled the Princeton backs before they were rightly started. On
the other hand, Princeton could not gain through our line. Time
and again she was held for four downs. But unfortunately our
stand was of short duration. After the ball had once crossed our
goal line matters underwent a sudden and complete change.
Princeton took the much-needed brace and State weakened, and
then the points began to roll up. For State, Curtin, Scholl and
Elssler played the best game, though extreme credit is due to
