A certificate in the short course in Mining was granted Thomas
W. Parry
Wednesday afternoon State defeated W. U. P. in an excellent
game of ball by the score of ix to 6. The Junior Assembly
Wednesday night was a brilliant affair, and with it closed the
exercises of Commencement.
The “ Exequies of Sophomore Days ” were conducted by the
Class of ’99 with great solemnity on Tuesday evening. The
members of the class, in representative costumes, formed for
parade at the band hall, whence they inarched through town to a
platform erected on the campus in front of the Main Building,
where the first part of the programme was enacted. The opening
scene was laid in Hades, where “ His Sooty Majesty ” announced
that this was the annual gathering of the “ Devil’s Conibine.”
He then inquired of his " Courageous Captain of Cremation ” if
any victims awaited their pleasure. Summoning ‘ ‘ Death,’ ’ they
were informed that two had just arrived from “ State,” namely
Commencement Notes.
