The Friday Club met at the house of Prof. Pattee on the even
ing of January 15th. A novel entertainment was enjoyed. Music
was furnished by the Mandolin Club.
The editors of the ’9B La Vie report that the annual is progress
ing finely.
Many of the students enjoyed skating on Thompson’s pond,
below the college, the first part of the term.
A committee consisting of Curtin, Andrews and Conrad, has
been appointed to take the matter of Trophy Room in charge,
The Senior Class has decided to graduate without the cap and
gown. It is to be hoped that this decision will not influence suc
ceeding classes.
The Electrical department recently received a very fine electro
dynamometer, built by Elmer Williams, of Philadelphia, upon
specifications furnished by the electrical corps of the college.
Rev. Lawrence M. Colfelt, D. D., has recently been appointed
to the chair of Ethics. 1-Ie is at present teaching Constitutional
Law in the college. The students will be pleased to know that
Dr. Colfelt is to preach at Sunday chapels during the whole of
the college year.
At the last athletic meeting of last session the following elec
tions were made: Manager of Base Ball Team, H. S. Davis;
Manager General Athletics, H. G. Huber; Marshal for General
Athletics and Base Ball, A. F. Blair; Base Ball Committee, L. F.
Hayes, J. M. Curtin, L. T. Bechtel; General Athletic Commit
tee, F. A. Kaiser, D. P. Conrad, C. A. Mechesney.
The track team has begun work in the Armory under the cap
tainship of E. V. Rawn.
Dr. Newton has issued a call for all athletes to come to his
office for physical examination. This examination is compul
sory.
At a meeting of the Athletic Association, held in the College
Chapel, January 18th, J. S. Albert was elected Manager of Col
lege Foot Ball Team for ’97. Foot Ball Committee: J. E. Clapper,
A. N. Diehl, W. A. Murray. Marshal: G. S. Halderman.
There will be four class games in basket ball this term, and
from these teams will be picked the college team. Games are to
