graduate of State to receive the " Magna Cum Laude " degree,.
the other being Dr. W. H. Walker, '9O, at present Assistant
Professor of Chemistry in the Massachusetts Institute of Tech

On January 21, at ScraMou, Judge James A. Beaver handed
down a decision of the Superior Court in the matter of the appeal of
the Nuding Brewing Co. from a decree of the Court of Common
Pleas of Schuylkill county. In this matter, which was a deter
mined contest over a fund realized from a sheriff's sale of real es
tate, R. P. Swank, 'B9, secured in favor of his clients in turn
the report of the auditor appointed by Court to award distribution,
the decree of the lower Court upon appeal from report of auditor
and finally a decision of the Superior Court upon appeal from the
decree of the lower Court. Mr. Swank's law office is located in
Mahanoy City, Schuylkill Co., Pa.
The biological department has issued a circular for general dis
tribution descriptive of the course.
The '97 La Vie board had a number of photographs taken,
among them the class of '97 and the athletic team.

At a meeting of the Scientific Association, held in the Physical
laboratory February 18, Prof. Osmond illustrated the method of
making X-ray photographs.
A new five-horse power Otto gas engine has been added to the
equipment of the mechanical engineering department. It will be

used for experimental purposes. •
A society of about twenty members has been organized in the
Sophomore class, its object being to practice French conversa
tion. Meetings are held every Thursday.
