The attendance at Yale has increased 5o per cent. in the last six
years.
It has been arranged to admit high school graduates at the
University of Chicago without examinations.
Harvard makes the study of English the only required work in

Cornell is considering the feasibility of establishing a company
of the National Guards at the University, to be under the control
of the Governor of New York.

According to Yale's Senior statistics, the average expenses of
members of the Class of '95 were : Freshman year, $912 ;
Sophomore year, $943 ; Junior year, $942; Senior year, $r,032;
total, $3,829.

At the recent meeting of the faculty at Swarthmore College it
was decided to make the gymnasium exercises of the Freshmen
and Sophomore classes compulsory,
