z896.] The convention was held in the hall of the local chapter on January ro and xi. The grand chapter convened on the morning of the i ith for the completion of business. On the evening of the 9th Professors Ihlseng and Jackson gave a reception in the Prat. house. On the morning of the loth the convention proper convened Several profitable sessions were held. The delegates, representing the various chapters, were mostly from classical institutions and were much interested and pleased with what they saw of the working, of Pennsylvania State College. On the evening of the loth the local chapter banqueted the grand chapter. The banquet was followed by a "smoker" given to the grand and local chapters by the /1 6.) // Praternity in their elegant new home. At its annual convention, a year ago, the grand chapter of the 4~ If 2' fraternity paid a tribute to our college as well as to the local chapter, Psi, by selecting Penna. State College as the place for the next annual convention. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. J. H. beet, Mr. and Mrs. H. K. Monroe, Mr. and Mrs. G. T. Sellew, Mrs. J. Y. Dale and Mrs. J. W. Stewart. The evening, was spent in dancing, an enjoyable feature of which was the revival of some of the old dances such as the Virginia Reel, etc. T. C. Hopkins is a native of Centre county, Pennsylvania, but early removed to Clearfield county. He was graduated from De- Pauw University in 1887 with the degree of B. S., and received the degree of M. S. in 1890. Degree of M. A., Stanford University, 1892. 1887-8 principal of the high school at Rising Sun, In diana. 1888.9 instructor in chemistry at DePauw University. 1889-93 assistant on the geological survey of Arkansas. 1892 graduate student at Stanford University. 1893 instructor in geology at Pennsylvania State College.. 1894 and '95 fellow in geology at the University of Chicago. 1895 assistant on the geological survey of Indiana. 1896 assistant professor of geology at Pennsylvania State College. Has published a monograph on marbles and other limestones, is a regular contributor to the Afin- New Professors, NEW PROFESSORS
