In the end it is not a question of doctrine; it is a question of true patriotism. The college man's position must always be one opposing that false patriotism which, for the sake of braggadocio, willingly violates the laws of God and humanity and only finds expressions for patriotism in the clash of arms. The educated man and the true patriot will always hold it the glory of a nation to obey as nearly as possible the laws of Christ and deem it a violation of a nation's honor to threaten or wage war without a full assurance of the right.
